My journey began nearly two decades ago, when I started studying philosophy in search of a deeper understanding of myself and the challenges I was facing. That path led me to a PhD in philosophy and to training in logotherapy and Existential Analysis, always with a practical purpose in mind. Today I bring all of this into my counselling work to support others on their own path of healing and growth.

Why Philosophy

Thinking clearly about the questions that matter

For more than two thousand years, philosophers have asked the questions many of us face in silence. What makes a life good? What is truly worth pursuing? What does it mean to be free? Is there a spiritual dimension to my life, even without religion? In sessions, we draw on that tradition not as abstract theory, but as a set of tools to clarify your own questions, examine your assumptions and find a direction that is genuinely yours.

My Approach

Philosophy helps us think clearly, while logotherapy and Existential Analysis help us understand what we feel in order to find meaning and live a fulfilled life. Developed by Viktor Frankl and Alfried Längle, these approaches see emotions not as obstacles but as a way of perceiving what truly matters to us. In our sessions we bring both together. We put words to what is happening, explore what you feel and what it is telling you, and look for what is missing, so you can face your challenges with greater clarity.

How it works

Accompaniment & Dialogue

Getting started is simple. Contact me by WhatsApp or email and tell me briefly what brings you here. You don’t need a clear definition of the problem. We then meet for a free 30-minute video call to get to know each other and see whether this approach is right for you. From there, sessions last 60 or 90 minutes, online, in English or Spanish. Some processes focus on a specific situation, while others are a longer accompaniment that prepares you for whatever life brings. We decide the pace together. My practice follows the ethical principles of the Society for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (GLE).

For Reflection and Orientation

I publish free articles, in English and Spanish, on ideas that can help you better understand yourself, your experiences, and the challenges you are facing.

Drawing on history’s great philosophers, logotherapy and Existential Analysis, the articles take up questions of meaning, value, duty, freedom, spirituality, relationships, suffering, anxiety and more. Not as abstractions, but as concrete tools to help you find your bearings.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is philosophical counselling? Philosophy has been a practice for living well for more than two thousand years, since Socrates and the Stoics. Today this tradition continues in contemporary forms of philosophical practice, such as the work of Gerd Achenbach in Germany or the International Society for Philosophical Practice (IGPP). Philosophical counselling takes your question seriously, not as a symptom, and thinks it through with you, clarifying concepts, examining assumptions and putting your experience in dialogue with the great thinkers of the past.

2. What is Existential Analysis, and how does it relate to Frankl’s logotherapy? Logotherapy is the school founded by Viktor Frankl in Vienna, centred on the search for meaning. Alfried Längle studied logotherapy directly with Frankl and, building on it, developed Existential Analysis together with the GLE. This approach broadens that foundation, because besides meaning it works with the conditions that make it possible, such as our relationship with the world, with our own life and with ourselves. My work draws on both traditions and on the theories of the great thinkers in the history of philosophy.

3. What kind of problems can you help me with? Any question or situation that matters to you. People often come when they feel lost or disoriented, when they face an important decision, when they are going through a loss, a crisis or a major change, or when their life seems to work but something feels missing. We can also explore anxiety, relationships, the search for meaning, or spiritual questions, with or without a religious faith. You don’t need to have a clearly defined problem: we start from whatever you bring.

4. Is this a form of therapy? Not in the sense of the psychological or psychiatric therapy practised today. However, since antiquity philosophy has been understood as a therapy of the soul, a way of caring for oneself through reflection and dialogue. As Viktor Frankl pointed out, some people suffer without being ill in a clinical sense, because they face existential or philosophical questions. My approach, based on philosophical counselling, logotherapy and Existential Analysis, can be a powerful complement to psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment, but it does not replace them.

5. What are your qualifications? I hold a PhD in Philosophy, awarded summa cum laude, from the University of St Andrews and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where I also completed my master’s and bachelor’s degrees in philosophy. I trained as a counsellor in Existential Analysis, with certification from the GLE in Vienna and the ICAE in Santiago, and I am a member of the International Society of Existential Analysis (ISEA) and of the editorial board of its journal, Existencia. My research in philosophy has been published in academic journals, and I have been accompanying people from different countries since 2022.

6. Is Existential Analysis a recognised approach? Yes. In Europe, Existential Analysis has a solid track record and has been growing steadily. In Austria it is a psychotherapy method officially recognised by the State, and according to the official 2025 figures of the Austrian Ministry of Health, it currently ranks fourth out of 22 methods by number of psychotherapists in training, and the GLE is the second-largest psychotherapy training institution in the country. It is taught at universities such as Salzburg, and today it is taught in more than 15 countries across Europe and the Americas.

7. How do online sessions work? All sessions are online, by video call, so you can join from anywhere in the world. Sessions are available in English or Spanish, and we agree on a time that works for your time zone. You only need a stable internet connection and a quiet place where you can talk freely, whether that is your office, your bedroom or even your parked car.

8. How much does it cost, and how do I pay? We can start with an initial free 30-minute conversation, to get to know each other and see whether this approach is right for you. Sessions last 60 or 90 minutes. The standard fee is £90 for a 60-minute session and £120 for a 90-minute session, although prices may vary depending on your location. Payment is made by bank transfer, and I can provide local bank details in several currencies (GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, NZD and JPY), so you can pay with a domestic transfer. If you live in Chile, please visit www.horizontedesentido.cl for more information.

9. How many sessions will I need? It depends on what you bring. Some situations become clear in a few sessions, while others are a longer process. Some people prefer to have a clear plan from the beginning, while others prefer to let the process unfold as we go. What matters most is that you feel the process is truly helping you.
